I am a 2012 Boston Marathon finisher! First marathon check. Boston Marathon check. Hard race with the heat being well into the high 80’s. I had to ditch my original running plan by tossing my water belt and hydrating at every aid station. The goal in this race was to just finish. I feel that I had a strong finish today for my first marathon and look forward to running another one. Now, it’s time to focus on Ironman 70.3 - August 19, 2012!
Here we go… I’m running the Boston Marathon today!!!!
“I don’t think about the miles that are coming down the road, I don’t think about the mile I’m on right now, I don’t think about the miles I’ve already covered. I think about what I’m doing right now, just being lost in the moment.” - Ryan Hall, on running a marathon.
Boston Marathon - 1 more day!
“You have a choice. You can throw in the towel, or you can use it to wipe the sweat off of your face.” - Gatorade
My choice is to use the towel to wipe the sweat off my face. I didn’t train for 18 weeks and raise over $6,000 to throw in the towel. The weather changes daily/hourly… if it’s hot take it slow, hydrate and have fun. When you cross that finish line you will be even more bad-ass for running a marathon in 80+ degree weather.
Beyond Excited - Two More Days!!! Last night I had my final fundraiser at Morton’s The Steakhouse (Boston) ‘All of the Pleasure, None of the Pain’ and we (my running partner and I) raised over $5,000 for the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation and the Joe Andruzzi Foundation. I am thrilled to say that I have surpassed my fundraising minimum of $4,000 and my personal fundraising goal. I couldn’t have done this all without the encouragement and support of my family, friends, teammates, and friends of friends. Looking forward to crossing that finishline on Monday!
